Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial National High School (JZGMNHS), through a joint resolution, was established after its separation from Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial School of Arts and Trades (JZGMSAT). JZGMNHS was turned-over to the Department of Education on April 17, 2002. Originally known as Biñan National School of Arts and Trades, JZGMSAT was created in 1960 through the late Laguna Congressman Jacobo Z.         JZGMNHS occupies a total land area of 17 923.30 square meters where fourteen (14) buildings of 71 rooms (inclusive of classrooms and offices) stand.

With the great influx of students, there was a tremendous need for classrooms. Starting the year 2002, through the collaborative efforts of the faculty, staff and officers of the PTCA headed by Councilor Gat Ala-Alatiit, new buildings have risen.

In 2003, a three-storey building with 24 rooms and a two-storey building with 6 classrooms were constructed from the Local School Board fund of Biñan under the leadership of Mayor Hermis Perez. These were succeeded by a two-storey building with 4 classrooms which was constructed through the efforts of Congresswoman Uliran T. Joaquin.

In 2005 to 2007, buildings erected like mushrooms. Two new classrooms were donated by the Matsushita Group of Companies with the help of DOLE, DFA, DepEd, and the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. Another two-classroom building was donated by the Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. which continually supports students with instructional materials, computers with internet connectivity, and LCD screen projector.

Two of the top-ranked teachers from this school were given opportunity to supervise, as officers-in-charge, the school annexes of JZGMNHS. Mr. Arnel Amatorio was assigned to St. Francis National High School, Biñan, Laguna in 2006 and Mrs. Angelita B. Delos Reyes for Mamplasan National High School, Biñan, Laguna in 2007.

In 2008, a building with four classrooms donated by Mayor Marlyn Alonte-Naguiat is being utilized as administration office and functional computers laboratory.

The school continues to establish partnership with the parents and teachers, concerned citizens, barangay officials, and the local, provincial and national government units. This partnership helps the school in establishing linkages and seeking support from different companies.

On October 2008, Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial National High School was recognized and awarded as Child-Friendly Public School by Child Abuse Prevention and Intervention Network (CAPIN).

In 2009, the school system focuses on school-based management trainings and programs for both internal and external stakeholders. These improve the teaching competence, school leadership and community network building, hence leading to an improved school performance.

The school is continually gaining its identity in the first congressional district because of its course offerings with vocationally-competitive teachers and staff. Furtherm Basic Education Curriculum, some enhancement, enrichment and upgrading of skills in Technology and Livelihood Education were made, wherein the students are required to undergo specialization using their basic academics in their chosen field like food trades, cosmetology, garments, agriculture, auto mechanics, radio mechanics, industrial electricity, civil technology, uter technology. This enhancement paved the way of producing skilled graduates capable of employment, thereby fulfilling the school's mission and vision.

JZGMNHS is a public secondary school with the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum for Grade 7 to Grade 9 and 2012 Basic Education Curriculum for Fourth Year. The K to 12 BEC is composed of the following subjects: Filipino, English, Mathematics, Science, Panlipunan, MAPEH, TLE, and EsP. Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) is also anchored on the Vocational Technology Curriculum which aims to enhance, enrich, and upgrade the technical-vocational skills of the students.

Based on the current plantilla of personnel, the school has fifteen (15) non-teaching personnel and one hundred ninety (190) teaching personnel. Of the 15 non-teaching personnel, only twelve (12) are actually working in the school; three of them are head teachers who were detailed to other schools. Only one hundred seventy one (171) from the 190 teaching personnel are actually teaching in the school; 19 were detailed to other schools.
