In the observance of the 124th Anniversary of National Flag Day and Independence Day on Sunday, June 12, the schools in the Division of Biñan City and all government agencies and offices were ordered to display the prominent Philippine National Flag as stated in Executive Order 179.
In Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial National High School, all teachers and personnel were all dressed in national costume in celebration of the124th anniversary. In like manner, everyone in school showed deference to the National Flag.
The theme for this year’s celebration of Philippine Independence is “Pagsuong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas” (Rise Toward the Challenge of a New Beginning), was elaborated by Dr. Joel Valenzuela, Education Program Supervisor in Araling Panlipunan. In his message, he emphasized the importance of being resilient in this new normal situation. He also expressed appreciation to the teachers and the organizers of the event. He also thanked the students who participated in the activities in line with the occasion. Similarly, Mrs. Jeannete Q. Alvarez, head teacher of Araling Panlipunan highlighted the conduct of activities related to the celebration of 124th Independence Day, like photo contest, essay writing, and quiz bee. This was in accordance with the objectives of Project BAYANI (Building Activities for Young learners and teachers Awareness on Local and National Issues). The main objective of which is to promote awareness of local and national issues, values, nationalism, and patriotism.
