After almost two years of implementing the distance learning modality for all the learners, Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial National High School (JZGMNHS) may soon commence its participation to the Department of Education’s (DepEd) expanded phase (Phase 2) of limited face-to-face (F2F) implementation once it passes the SDO Biñan City’s assessment of its readiness.

According to the school principal, Mr. Oliver Caliwag, the operational guidelines for F2F learning will focus on Safe Operations, Teaching-Learning, Ensuring Learning Delivery, and Well-Being and Protection. These are four of the seven dimensions of the BE-SAFER Learning Continuity Plan of JZGMNHS for the current school year.
In accordance with the policies set by DepEd in the implementation of limited F2F, learners who are eligible for participation are those who are currently living in Biñan City and those who can go to school on foot, through regulated public transportation, or with available private transport. They should also have no existing comorbidities. DepEd stressed that students’ participation was voluntary and that they should have the signed written consent from their parents/guardians. However, due to limited implementation, only a few students will be allowed to participate due to limited number of classes.
To prepare the school for the implementation of the limited F2F, it will be coordinating with the local government units of the City of Biñan. This will ensure that proper measures will be made in case emergency arises. In school, teachers were tasked to prepare the classrooms by using a classroom monitoring tool that will assess the readiness of the classrooms for F2F. A flow chart for the referral process for emergency cases was also drafted by the head teacher of Araling Panlipunan, Mrs. Jeanette Alvarez. Mr. Caliwag also reiterated the management of mental health support through the conduct of guidance and counselling facilitated by the guidance counselor, Mrs. Salud Balala, and Mental Health Coordinator, Ms. Leonida Valeña.
It was expected that authorities from different offices such as LGUs, Biñan City Health Office and DepEd CALABARZON might conduct visitations to assess the school’s readiness for limited F2F implementation.
To facilitate the effective implementation of the limited F2F, the parents/guardians of the chosen participating learners will be asked to attend an orientation that will feature the School Contingency Plan for the Implementation of Face-to-Face Classes.
The target date for the implementation of limited F2F is on April 11, 2022.
